Recruitment is a period of two weeks at the beginning of each semester where students have an opportunity to learn more about the Greek life on campus.
How much are membership dues?
The price ranges from $75-100 a semester.
How do I become a member?
To become a member of Sigma Theta Psi, Founding Chapter, you must be a full time undergraduate student at SJSU, enrolled in at least 9 units and have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. You will also need to have at least 2 academic semesters remaining. Upon these qualifications, you will fill out our application and after review, we may offer you an interview. The final step is to go through an educational process to learn more about the organization.
How many recruitment events do I need to attend to be given a bid?
Recruitment events are not mandatory, but recommended. We understand that not everyone can make it to events, so we are flexible with those who are still interested in the sorority. The more rush events you attend, the more you can learn about the organization.
What's a bid?
A bid is a formal invitation to start the chapter's educational process.
Where can I get a flyer for the rush events?
For the Spring 2023 semester we will be tabling on the 7th Street Plaza (Cesar Chavez Plaza) from January 31st - February 8th and will have flyers and other information at our table. Flyers and other updates can also be found on our website, Facebook and Instagram.
How do I know if Sigma Theta Psi is right for me?
Recruitment events are meant for those interested in joining a sisterhood to get to know us. You will get a chance to talk to the sisters and ask any questions you have.
Is recruitment only for the fall semester?
No, we participate in recruitment every fall and spring semester.
Where can I get an application to apply?
Applications can be emailed by the Recruitment Chair at [email protected]. The application fee is $60, we accept cash or Venmo.
